Writing Tip 3

"Take me somewhere, show me something!" I heard this regularly when I worked at a local television station as the assignment editor. Consultants would visit us and teach us how to write powerful scripts for television news. I found that the advice translates to all writing, though. I am a visual person so it was easy for me to learn to write visually and connect with the reader in a memorable way. If you will paint pictures in your writing your writing will LEAP off of the page and into the reader's mind leaving an imprint. Take 15 minutes today and try to write a word picture. It will stretch your ability and you will have a good time trying!
