500 Napkins
I had a rough start this morning. I eased out of the house before 5 a.m. to get a coffee to jump start me for work. Nearly $7 later, I'm sipping on the whipped cream and white chocolate liquid as I'm moving around in the living room in pure darkness.
I lean forward and one bad move later my hoity-toity coffee is spilling over like a waterfall onto everything spread out on my brother's coffee table. Without any light to guide me, I quickly leap into damage control mode.
I'm swiping under coasters, lifting bagged plastic ware to dry, straws, and then I see it. It was like the heavens opened and the angels busted out in the "Hallelujah" chorus. A healthy stack of napkins. Brown ones, white ones, large ones, small ones waiting for their moment.
I snatched them one by one and lined them up on the perimeter to block unnecessary spillage. They literally saved the day as not one drop hit the carpet. Oh the power of preparation! Or, happy coincidence. As crazy as it sounds I knew I had to blog about it.
Nothing substitutes for preparation, especially in writing. A motivated writer should always have work prepared to present. You never know when your window of opportunity will open and you can spring into action with prepared creations ready to win!
