Build, Rebuild, Build, Rebuild...

Cinque terre (5 lands), Italy has been on my bucket list since my twenties. Finally planning the trip, I'm watching many travel shows. As I studied one this morning I was stunned to find a Teresa-myth busted. Yeah, Teresa-myth. The way I see and believe things that are unsubstantiated.

I assumed all the brick walls I have seen while visiting Europe or see in travel shows are old, old, old and have stood on their own through hundreds of years. But, surprisingly, they have not. In fact, the walls of one village in Italy are regularly up kept by skilled stone masons. It's true! I watched the mason carefully fill in holes in the wall with some earthy-looking adhesive and different shaped and sized stones.

Isn't that something? Even walls older than our country require consistent upkeep. Makes you wonder if anything in life is self-maintained??? I don't think so. It's becoming ragingly clear to me that relationships, vehicles, homes, yards, skills, all require regular upkeep. Maintenance, if you will. There's no way around it, anything worth having requires deliberate effort.
