Inspiration

I actually got a gasp out of someone the other day. They were confidently telling me that it's hard for writers because sometimes they get writer's block. Keep in mind, this is not someone who pursues writing. My response was, "I'm not buying that." Silence on the other end. Cricket. Cricket.

"Oh really?" Came the weak, yet inquisitive response. I heard the question in her voice. I answered, "Yes, if you're a writer, you can always write." I'm not saying we don't get stuck from time to time. Just this morning, I sat here staring at the computer screen tapping my keyboard hoping words would magically jump from my fingers onto the blog. No such luck.

Then I walked outside and had a visual prompt. The orange sun pushing its way up into the blue-ish sky was breathtaking. It immediately reminded me of my uncle, the poet. He is a hunter and loves to sit in the woods. Not so much for the hunting but to be one with nature...and commune with God. He's always getting a story idea, a phrase, or a poem out of the deal too.

I'm not putting writers down who get stuck, I'm merely stating if you love what you do, you find a way to do it. And it doesn't take much encouragement to get you back in the game and writing your heart out. There's nothing like a visual prompt to turn the switch back on!
