Leaving Snow Tracks

Looking out my window this morning, I see the snow is still piled up and blocking my life from moving forward. Yuck. Guess the 21 degree temperature isn't helping anything. I just want to feel normal again.

The sunshine the last couple of days has helped a little. Gave me hope that this season will change and snow will not delay my life forever.

At least something positive is coming out of it. I'm writing a lot. Reworking, editing, reading to friends for clarity...all good stuff. After talking to my creative bestie last night, I realized I have finished three complete books since 2020. Two of them up to 55,000 words or more.

Then it became obvious what I'm doing. I'm flittering from one to the next when I feel like one is not getting me anywhere with publish. In my defense, a writing coach literally told me to push one aside, an action book.

He said in order to learn the elements of novel writing I needed to start in a genre of my highest interest and get published. He gave a publishing recommendation and told me to start building an audience by publishing through them. Sounded great! Easy as 1-2-3. Until it wasn't. Apparently, it doesn't go as smoothly as all that. Especially when you're writing as little as I am.

But, I am not deterred. I wrote three books in three years! Finished to completion. One of them completely edited. I have left some tracks in the snow. Evidence I've been working away and pursuing publish from one door to the next.

So I'm going to pat myself on the back. Even if they're crap stories. I finished and I'm giving myself permission to believe in myself. It was like a new fire was lit in me at this revelation. Even the writing coach believed in me. He said he believed I would get published because I had the desire and drive. A little talent doesn't hurt, either!

Time to get back to editing book number three. And here's to snowy days and making magic happen. If this is what you want, then be like me. Don't. Stop. Writing.
