Old School Match Up
In elementary school, square dancing was still part of gym class. I remember (like everyone else living in honesty) wishing to be paired up with a certain partner. Yet, the gym teacher picked and that was it. No trades, no swaps, you danced with that person.
Where's my gym teacher now? Seems I need someone to arrange a partner for me. Why can't it be that easy? Like with the old Jewish custom where Shadchans were used to arrange marriages. Some people hate this idea. In truth, of course we want to pick the one we have chemistry with and are comfortable with for all kinds of reasons.
But what if you're someone like me that feels like her "picker" is off? For the life of me, I can't pick a legit partner. All sorts of options come my way but they usually bear unbeatable obstacles. But that dang chemistry lures me in. After we come together and take that loop around the dance floor we always end up circling right back to the obstacle. And it wins.
I guess the painful truth is, it wouldn't be an obstacle if the partner cared enough about me. They'd find a way to blaze through it because that's what love does. It blazes and burns up everything in its path until it fuses two souls. It stops at nothing to be with its partner. Maybe that's the missing element...love. No matter how much you care about someone if they're not feeling it too, you won't finish the dance.
Whew, that was a harsh truth but it was still a truth. Like my friend from Georgia always says, "The sharpest knife cuts the quickest and heals the fastest". So, here's to fast healings! Happy Sunday blog world :-)
