Open the Border
Ever heard of stinkin' thinkin'? Or a limited mindset? Well, those are mental borders some folks struggle with because of their past, their fears, upbringing, etc. You can move past it. I know. I've had to fight so many limitations in my own head.
Whether it be in writing or other important areas of my life. I have noticed its voice clanging louder in my head while novel writing. There is always an unspoken undercurrent that guides my words. Or, I should say that limits my words.
It's hard to think differently than we've always thought before. The ugly fact is, if we're not getting the results we want with the thinking we're using, then it is time to find a workaround. Sometimes I have to trick myself.
If I catch myself procrastinating, it's usually because an important but unwanted decision is lurking. So, my trick is to act without thinking. Does that get me in hot water? Often. But does it get me unstuck? You betcha.
I've been fooled for a long time thinking that my limitations weren't leaking into other areas of my life. Wrong. They trickle into virtually everything I do: relationships, writing, work, financial decisions, you name it! I can limit it. Tag it and bag it.
If you need a new strategy to open the border in your mind, trick yourself. I promise, do it before you know you're doing it. It works! It will revolutionize your existence.
