Poem: Tear-Shaped Pain
Always a poet, lately I've been experimenting with shaped poems, where I write the poem into a corresponding shape. It's challenging and stretches my aesthetic creativity along with my poetic creativity. Here's my second one about the pain of empty nesting. It won't look right on a phone, to see the shape, you'd have to open on a computer. Let me know what you think!
A
pin
drops
and the
loud echo
hammers at
my hollow heart.
It's like an empty dark
cave where love once lived.
You're gone and that's that for me.
Left with a sad abyss of nothingness.
That "never to heal from" place where
pain multiplies and pounds. I don't want it
to leave me because that pain is you with me.
It would mean I forgot you and I don't want to.
I will never fill the nest with a lame secondary
replacement. They'd be miserable and so
would I. Unconditional love, a place
only God can fill. Except for you.
my love for you is the same.
It's incomparable
pure and true
love.
