Rainbows: A Love Letter in the Sky

Colors mean something. Isn't that the whole premise of a mood ring? Use the changing colors to decipher someone's mood? Don't interior designers use colors to "set moods" or ambiance in a room? All of this to say I witnessed a beautiful stem to a rainbow watching guard over a passive bay and was inspired.

Inspired to what? To understand that thick, towering display of beauty, color by color. I clicked into NationalGeographic.org this morning and loved their definition. They said a rainbow is a, "...multicolored arc made by light striking water droplets." That definition intrigued me. Light striking water droplets. Like God's light illuminating our tears. Beautiful.

Anyway, scientifically there is a primary and a secondary rainbow with different color sets. Apparently, it's not as straightforward as all that because colors mix to make other colors, etc. but I'm going to take the gist of it and assign meaning. Yippee! I love this stuff.

A primary rainbow's colors are always in order according to wavelength and appear as such: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. What do those colors represent? I turned to science to understand what a rainbow is. Now, I turn to art to understand the relevance of the colors. However, I'm going to stick with the positive meanings. Meanings captured from Colorpsychology.org.

Red. LOVE and DESIRE.

Orange. ENTHUSIASM, CREATIVITY, and WARMTH.

Yellow. OPTIMISM, JOY, and ENLIGHTENMENT.

Green. SOOTHING and RESTFUL

Blue. CALMNESS and PEACE.

Violet. CREATIVITY, NOBILITY, and SPIRITUAL

Interesting. If you were reading a message from the color lineup of a rainbow it would tell you this.

Red. God saying he LOVES you, DESIRES you.

Orange. He wants to hug you, comfort you with His WARMTH.

Yellow. He wants you to be full of JOY.

Green. He wants you to enjoy REST.

Blue. He wants you to experience PEACE.

Violet. He wants you to step into NOBILITY by becoming His son or daughter.

A love letter in the sky! Kiss, kiss, hug, hug...I'll never look at a rainbow the same again. Love you too God :-)
