Way with Words: Bombastic

The day finally came when I wanted to write again. Four weeks following my move back to my house, I woke up wanting to write. That is amazing for me. In Tennessee I had stopped writing my books altogether. Thankfully, the desire is downloading again.

I went to bed feeling it and woke up to a word I wanted to research. Bombastic. It sounded fake but I heard it on a an English movie trailer so it must be correct, right? Yeah. It is. Bombastic. It's basically blown up words.

Merriam-Webster compares it to the word pompous if that tells you anything. Their translation is "marked by or given to speech or writing that is given exaggerated importance by artificial or empty means..." Bombastic. It's a fun word to say. I challenge you to find a way to use it today. Whether in writing or speech. It could start a memorable conversation!
