Time Catches Up
Time is a tricky lover. It waits for no one. Sneaks up on you. Waits around the corner. Passes you when you're lost in tears. And always has the upper hand. I've come to fall in love with time, though. Because time is essentially magic elapsing every day.
It's like a big ocean. As the waves roar in and lap up everything loose on the beach, so does time. It roars in every day and scoops loose things away. But if you're lucky enough to stick around, it always catches up with you.
Eventually you reach the age to drive, thanks to time. Then to drink. Then to rent a car. And so on. In some ways it's an enemy as it runs out on those we love and they go to sleep. As it drags our children from kindergarten to graduation when all we were wishing for was a small break, not their departure.
In one area time shines. During a broken heart. As time comes in like waves, every day it drags a little more from your memory box. As it ticks on, it removes stabbing pains in the heart and clears it out for hope. If this is your season for heartbreak, just know it will get better. If you stay open, another day brings new life. New opportunities and blessings you never saw coming.
Don't despise time, embrace it. Let the waves roll in and drag out the dregs of your broken heart and drown them in the ocean. Let it renew you and set you on the path of a new beginning.
