Time is Life

I heard the saying yesterday "Time is Life". I can only remember hearing it twice in my life. One of my friends was an Air Force Fighter Pilot and he said in his line of work "Time is Life". I had to let that marinate to truly understand the meaning in relation to everyday life.

When I heard it again yesterday, it was sooooooo obviously clear. Time is life. If you ever hear a clock ticking it can be an unnerving sound. Every tick is taking a piece of your future. Digging into that idea, what did you do with that tick?

Yeah. That's where we are. Life is more than a routine. It's more than a 9-5 job. It's a living, breathing entity encapsulating you right now. Hard chargers keep trudging forward to get to a goal but few stop and ask themselves if they are really living.

The present is what matters most. Life. How are you living? How are you using the time you've been given? I'm three years away from the age of my grandfather when he passed. Five years away from the age of my aunt who passed with breast cancer.

Time means something to me now. When you're young it drags along like a rake in hard soil. When you're older it whips through your hair like you're gliding uncontrollably down a slide. Either way, it ticks the same. I want to work more on being in the moment. Making every tick count knowing a piece of my life is being taken from me with each one.

Whether I've reached my "goals" or attained the dreams I've chased throughout my life. Goals are important but they shouldn't be the be all, end all. Life is. We really don't know how much of it we have left. Let it in and savor it. You're just a tick away from it changing over and over again.
