Way with Words: Proximity

Think words don't matter? Literally, one word can change your whole life. It can take everything or give everything. It's amazing how valuable they are when it comes right down to it. Think of my word today...proximity. It has demolished my life. With one six-hour car ride I moved away from the greatest love of my life.

I visited my friends at Merriam-Webster online to discover the meaning and they defined the word as "the quality or state of being proximate: CLOSENESS." That last word really made the tears roll and the sniffing start. CLOSENESS. Exactly what I don't have with my son now.

Don't feel sorry for me though. It's my fault. I could have stayed near him and his dream, but I chose to come back and he chose to stay. Hardest decision I've ever made and I've had some doozies in my life! I don't know how it turns out either. All this to say, be choosy with your words. And your life choices for they surely can cost you everything.
