When Sickness is Good

Between lightning cracks taking out our internet and sickness invading our home, it's been tough to blog the last few days.

My goodness, I haven't even had coffee for three days. I can feel the grumpiness boiling up. I'm trying my best to behave. It's a great time to stick my nose in my Chromebook and write. At least it keeps me preoccupied from lashing out at anyone.

This morning I was finally able to focus enough to write. I tried my hand at flash fiction again. Wrote a 1,200 word count about four people joking around about who of them could pull off being a serial killer. I actually had this conversation at work one day and thought it would make a great story. I wrote it, but it was laborious.

Maybe it's because I'm still not top notch. Or, I feel guilty because I usually do chores on Saturdays. Who knows. Well, practicing writing is a productive activity when you're sick...if you're up to it. Shows dedication to the craft if nothing else.

Especially without coffee. Yikes. Everything feels like a chore without my morning cup of comfort. What I wouldn't give for a steaming cup of sugary sweet coffee. I love it so much I could probably write a song about it. But I won't. No need to keep boring you with my nonsense. If you have a minute, write about something you love today. Even if it's just a line. That constitutes as dedication and practice. Happy writing :-)
