Going Tubin'
YouTube. Ugh. Even the name gives me the creeps. "YOUTube". Insinuates I have something more important than everyone else. Or that I'm in love with myself. Ha. But, I guess to be relevant these days your mug has to pop up everywhere. Apparently, I started a channel in 2020. Let's face it we all did stupid stuff that year that we probably don't remember! It was a ding dong year, for sure.
Back to social media, I've been on and off Facebook like a fad diet. Now, I'm having to stay still and be known. Push past every shy limit hardwired into my system. NOT fun for me. I'd rather hide in a shell and come out when and how I want to.
I even had to make my first Twitter Tweet (A.K.A. X) yesterday. I opened the account in 2009. Yeah, that was the first tweet since '09.
Unfortunately it's not realistic to hide. If you want to promote your writing you have to come along for the ride. It's a persona you're selling, not solely your talent. Yikes. Many accomplished writers at writer's conferences are peddling this social media self promotion and I've avoided it. Time to face the giant and take it down. Okay, maybe not. But at least quit hiding from it.
On Facebook I'm Teresa Gettelfinger Robbins and I'm thinking of naming the YouTube Channel the same. Thoughts? Or, if you have an idea for a video or favorite blog you think I should use...give me a shout. Can't wait to hear. See you soon...on YouTube.
